Casita del Príncipe

La Casita del Príncipe o Casita de Abajo (Prince’s Lodge)

A “Grand Forest of Giants” guards the entrance to its gardens. Hundred-year-old redwood trees and Spanish firs, a palace house and countless stories and legends will be revealed to transport us back to the “Itinerant Court”. The Itinerant Court that brought the monarchs to El Escorial every year to enjoy its woods and mountains.

We will “walk” through the Spanish History to enter this unique space, also known as the Casita de Abajo (Lower Lodge) chosen as a pavilion for Charles IV who was then the Prince of Asturias, in the oak woods between the Monastery of El Escorial and the town centre of El Escorial. Nearby, we find the Casita del Infante or Casita de Arriba (Young Prince’s Lodge or Upper Lodge) built for the young prince Gabriel de Borbón, brother of Charles III.
